The sitter

We came home from camping and since we had to go to Erin’s wedding, we stopped by my parents’ to check up on Rhys and Brooke, drop off Ella, take a shower and get ready.

When we stepped into the living room, this is what we found

The crib

Went to the parents’ to drop off pugui so we could go camping with our cousins. She talked for a while about a free crib she got and had set up for one of the babies. Apparently no screws came with the crib which is not surprising for a free crib, so despite my dad’s complaining and pessimism, she spent some time and got it to work. Or so she said. When I walked into the room I saw this:

I had visions of the makeshift bed falling on top of Brooke or Rhys. She insisted that it was perfectly safe to sleep in and to prove it, shook the crib back and forth. The crib swayed back and forth with every move.

Needless to say, I texted Emy right away and told her to bring a pack and play.

Hot Saturday

We had the van Oordts over for lunch so Patrick could eat some meet and gluten!

Ella insisted on wearing her boots from bobou and wore them until her cheeks were bright red from being hot.

We watched Brazil lose to the Dutch and just laid down while the kids slept, as it was 90 today. At the end of the day we went to the pool and decided to bring Rhys into the pool today. He actually slept in my arms for 15-20 min, so I guess he liked it!

4th of July

Family and friends alike enjoyed the game and some BBQ.

Our biggest accomplishment as a whole was to put down five kids down for naps at the same time. I could not believe we pulled it off! They all woke up happy after their nap and I was finally able to take a cousin pic with the outfits my sister got them. Only Grant didn’t nap and instead was perched on a chair watching cartoons

Ella counts

For over a week now, Ella has been counting to ten. She does skip a couple of numbers, but kinda impressive seeing her do that.

Ella back with the binkie

Tim’s coworker brought Ella a gift and a mustache binkie for Rhys. Since Rhys was already in bed, we gave the binkie to Ella to pose for a pic. I’m afraid she liked it more than I expected…need to hide it.

Swimming with the cousins

A fun day was had by all. Ella got picked up from school early to go “dada” ( = nadar = swim) with her cousins. The day ended with a trip to menchies.
